Rossiter Boats

Thirty-five years ago, George Rossiter decided he didnt want to be a doctor like both his parents, or a fast-track business whiz like most of his friends. He wanted to build boats. And stubbornly, thats what he did. He built rowing boats not the little square-bottom thing that gets you from the dock to the yacht, but sleek, streamlined boats, through which a person could find both fitness and peace. He studied marine architecture, and built his boats for the ultimate in style and function, using fibreglass for his hulls and teak to embellish his decks. He built hydrodynamic, smooth-in-the water boats, and created innovations like adjustable seats and foot rests, that others should have thought of but never did.

They are a professional fibreglass production boatshop and offer custom design and repairs on small watercraft and other items. Their boats are in use all over North America and around the world. They are easily trailered or carried on top of a car. Growing up in the Thousand Islands Scott rowed his grandparents wooden St Lawrence skiff and started and ran a windsurfing shop and school while still in his teens. Then the real world beckoned and he made his way into advertising and communications marketing products from Minwax to flour to financial services. But boats kept calling him and in 1993 he answered and attended the celebrated Landing School of Boat Building and Design in Kennebunkport, Maine where he graduated with honours in Yacht Design and Boat Building.

Calcutt Boats

The British canal system is totally unique. No other country has anything quite like it, and it stands alone in offering wonderful opportunities for leisure and relaxation. Although the origin of these canals is purely functional, having grown out of the industrial turmoil of the 18th and 19th centuries, their role as commercial arteries to a manufacturing nation is long gone. The passing years have seen newer, faster, more economical means of transportation, leaving the inland waterways to settle down into a mellow peacefulness. From this has grown a new and no less important role – that of supporting a growing demand for rewarding leisure pursuits and environmental awareness.

Calcutt Boats is a longstanding and well respected boatyard located at the centre of England’s Inland Waterways. When first established some 28 years ago, they started their famous hire fleet and have grown to encompass a full range of canal boat services and facilities. From their chandlery they can provide virtually anything you may need to fit out, enhance or service your boat. However, with their extensive facilities, they can carry out any of this work on your boat for you. They marinise a range of diesel engines for narrowboats and provide full engineering support for both engines and gearboxes. Their base is situated in the middle of the Warwickshire countryside and our marina provides a secure and peaceful location to moor your boat.

Time spent on the boats quickly shows how Paul’s and Bev’s combined sixty years of marine experience, including eighteen years with Boston Whaler, has evolved into the Maritime Advantage, where the continual emphasis on function over form still prevails. Today, the Maritime boating tradition continues under the name of Maritime Marine, LLC. For much of Maritime’s history, the all-important fiberglass hulls, decks, and other components have been built and assembled in Maine, where boatbuilding craftsmanship and strong work ethic have a rich history.
