Windy Boats

Windy Boats AS is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Periscopus AS, Oslo, Norway – a privately owned holding company with interests which include publishing, media, hotels and property. The renowned WINDY boats are built at their modern and well equipped production facilities at Skarpnes, just outside Arendal on the southern coast of Norway. The Company employs 160 people producing models ranging from 25 to 58 feet in their WINDY range; and from 25 to 28 feet in our Windy Oceancraft range. Windy Boats AS was established in 1966 by Hugo Vold. His father was a fisherman, and his family had many anxious moments as storms raged in the Skagerrak Channel. All his fathers boats were called Vindy, and he brought every one of them safely back to port.

When Windy Boats AS was established in 1966, a fine leisure boat was created first and foremost thanks to the skilled craftsmanship that had been handed down through the generations. It is still the case today that the craftsman has the greatest influence on the finished product, however, dialogue with the market inspires their creativity in different directions, involving new ideas and an alternative way of thinking. During this development process, their architects are assisted by extremely precise IT tools. Simulation software enables us to optimise the characteristics on which they intend to focus in a new Windy. Three-dimensional imaging simplifies the choices they have to make during the process that leads to the final product.

Sanger Boats

A craftsman is defined as one who creates or performs with skill or dexterity in the manual arts. At Sanger Boats, craftsmanship is still an art. They still build our wakeboard boats and ski boats with precision and care, one at a time. Every one of their limited production masterpieces take shape in their ten acre facility in the heart of California’s central valley. The climate in this area has proven to be the perfect blend of heat and humidity for producing the world’s finest boats. Each boat is rigged by one individual. This ensures that no function was missed, unlike mass production facilities. Almost all of their small parts are built under one roof, to ensure that you receive the best quality that money can buy.
Little details like through-bolted motor mounts and bilge pumps that are mounted to aluminum plates ensure the manufacturing integrity. These are just a few samples of their quality that separates Sanger Boats apart from the competition. Sanger Boats, Inc., founded by Jack Davidson, was established in 1954 in the small town of Sanger, California. At the age of 16, Jack built his first 14-foot wooden boat from the instructions in a magazine. Jack married in 1950 and went on to have four children. In 1956, Jack built his first Sanger dragster for hot boat racing and began drag boat racing competition. In Berkeley, CA , in 1958, Jack set a record at the speed of 118 mph.

This principle is one of the fundamental ideas behind their construction techniques.

The second evolution progressed into wooden boat restoration – primarly runabouts. These boats are beautiful and full of style and panach. The evolution continued with extensive coastal cruising from Maine to Florida and throughout the Great Lakes. Those travels provided the opportunity to observe hull shapes in all kinds of evironments and all sorts of applications. The Storm Hawk 21 is a twenty-one foot boat that handles more like a twenty-four foot boat…” says George Panton, owner/operator of Pro Fish Inc. out of Satellite Beach, Florida. Its big bow flare ensures a dry ride. The boats sharp entry slices through stormy waters and wild chop for a solid, precision ride. When the weather is keeping other boats at home, the Storm Hawk Twenty-One is completely content, just doing its job.
