Thirty-five years ago, George Rossiter decided he didnt want to be a doctor like both his parents, or a fast-track business whiz like most of his friends. He wanted to build boats. And stubbornly, thats what he did. He built rowing boats not the little square-bottom thing that gets you from the dock to the yacht, but sleek, streamlined boats, through which a person could find both fitness and peace. He studied marine architecture, and built his boats for the ultimate in style and function, using fibreglass for his hulls and teak to embellish his decks. He built hydrodynamic, smooth-in-the water boats, and created innovations like adjustable seats and foot rests, that others should have thought of but never did.
And he sold his boats, one at a time. Gradually, people got to know the Rossiter boat, and to trust it, and often, even to love it. Not everybody knows it, of course, because there will never be a lot of Rossiter boats. They will always be made slowly and carefully, by hand, the farthest way imaginable from mass production. They are a professional fibreglass production boatshop and offer custom design and repairs on small watercraft and other items. Rossiter Boats is now truly a combination of Scott and Georges skills and values Yesterdays Quality and Tomorrows Ideas. Their boats have found homes as far away as Sweden, Kuwait and Oregon while many are close by on Georgian Bay. And everywhere they go people are coming to recognize the distinctive Rossiter look.
