North Shore Boats Ltd. is on the main street of the fishing village of Arisaig, NS along Route 245. Jim has been building commercial and pleasure boats since 1981. Together with wife Shirley and son Marc and their dedicated crew they build 28′-35′ boats in the classic Northumberland Strait style. This design is noted for it’s seakeeping abilities, speed and excellent handling characteristics.North Shore Boats Ltd. was founded by Jim (Jimmy J) MacDonald in 1981 and is located in the fishing community of Arisaig along the north shore of Nova Scotia. Jim spent some time as a lobster fisherman years past, and so he grew to appreciate what a well made boat could do for the fishery and anyone enjoying the water in any capacity.
Their acility boasts adequate work space to have multiple projects ongoing in parallel. We have lots of outdoor space as well as an indoor space for moulding, fibreglassing, sanding and painting.One portion of our building is used to fabricate the boat from mould and do the initial finish and forming of a complete hull. They take great pride in serving our customers and take great care to get even the finest of detail just as the customer ordered.
